Visual & Performing Arts

Clarendon offers a broad spectrum exposure to the Visual and Performing Arts. These programs are developed in conjunction with the SFUSD VAPA program and partially funded by parent financial donations.

Opportunities include:

  • Dance
  • Writing/Drama
  • Music Performance
  • Art

Professional instructors in Dance and Drama visit Clarendon one day a week, and rotate among classes according to teacher request. In addition, these specialists support major performance events at Clarendon such as the JBBP Performing Arts Nights.

Music classes are taught by "Mr. Y" every Friday to interested 4th and 5th graders. Instruction is provided in:

  • Beginning Violins
  • Band
  • Drums
  • Jazz Band
  • Ensembles
  • Guitars

Instrument rental is available at local music stores. Each year Mr. Y provides a hand-out of recommended stores.

Art instruction is provided five days a week in Clarendon's dedicated Art Bungalow. All grades participate.

Please note: With the exception of instrument rental for the Music classes, there is no fee for participation in these programs.
