On-site Volunteer Opportunities

Parents are a strong presence day in and day out on the Clarendon campus.

Parents volunteers help run weekly academic learning centers in the lower grade classrooms and assist with cultural events throughout the year at every grade level. By having parents involved, teachers can work with small groups of students to meet the needs of each child.

Parent volunteer positions held in each Clarendon classroom include:

  • Classroom coordinators (x3)
  • Classroom auction (fundraising) leaders (x3)
  • Classroom learning center leaders (x4-6)
  • Classroom garden/outdoor learning lab leaders (lower grades)
  • Classroom PTO (Second Community Parent Association/SCPA or Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program Parent Advisory Council/JBBP PAC) representatives
  • 2nd/Foreign language story readers
  • Field trip chaperones (numerous—with an average of 10 field trips/year/grade, each trip requires and enjoys between 2-6 parent chaperones per classroom)
