Integrating Computers into the Curriculum

Generally the K-2 teachers instructing at the same grade level collaborate on their curricula, and submit their curricula to the K-2 specialist. The specialist then endeavors to identify computer activities that serve to enhance and reinforce the subjects the students are being taught in the classroom at a given time. These subjects include, but are not limited to English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, and Social Studies.

In addition the Computer Lab covers the following topics during the school year:

  • General Computer Skills - K-2
  • Internet Safety - K-2
  • Keyboarding practice - K-2
  • Typing Lessons - 1st-2nd
  • Kid Pix 3D* Art/Video Projects - K-2

*Kid Pix 3D info can be found here: http://www.mackiev.com/kidpix/index.html

The JBBP program is experimenting with incorporation of iPads in the classroom, including the Kindergartners.
